I’ve had a few people come up to me telling me they’re practicing the ways of the Scholar, trying to keep up with the studies and the spells. Learning of the positive and negative effects to both of the Grimoires. Some would ask for my opinion on what to do, and others would ask for general advice.
All in all, this entry will try to convey the essence of what it is to be a Scholar.

I decided to finally test out my scholar nuking in Dynamis last night.. Dynamis – Xarcabard to be precise. I’ve never really looked at the figures for mage damage until last night so I didn’t really know what to expect. I had just recently finally capped off Elemental Magic Skill and picked up some new gear including the Wizard’s Earring (+5 Elemental Magic when subjob is Black Mage). Overall with my trusty Ice Staff equipped (yes, Ice, not Aquillo, leave me alone >_>), I had 324 Elemental Magic Skill and with food and hailstorm I was able to maintain about 110 INT (give or take).
I got 3 merits last night and debated over whether I should put it into Focalization or my sixth Elemental Magic Skill. I decided to go ahead and unlock Focalization. I’m gonig to end up capping both, Elemental Magic Skill, and Focalization before I head out to do much of anything else (‘cept LS events).
