Many people have asked me what I had done during the time of Banishment of Scholars after the Crystal War… Well.. here is my story…
(Note: I wrote this talking to someone and cleaned it up some so it doesn’t look like I’m talking to someone back and forth).
“Following the disappearance of the scholars after the war, the three nations banned the grimoire unequivocally. An era of book burnings and oppression of our pupils was ushered in…Some sought refuge across the seas… Others were incarcerated on trumped-up charges, only to die needlessly in prison… Bounty hunters invited violence and murder on our kind, spurred on by the rewards placed on our heads.” ~ The Professor
After the Banishment of Scholars had become official I left to go overseas. I had my tickets and everything! Then as I was about to get on a boat a bounty hunter finally caught up to me. He kept tracking me down for eight years then somehow. He finally caught up to me and in some…unforeseen::cough::Firestorm, he was met with an unfortunate accident.
Several moons after that I met up with Muckvix and Bluffnix. They found me one day on their travels. They didn’t feel what the Allegiance of Nations had done was right and found a place for me to hide. I hide in an undisclosed location for about 6 more years then decided to travel out once more in hopes to find other scholars.
So I traveled as a rogue and kept discreet. I was unable to find any Scholar Brethren but had heard of some that traveled across to the East, mostly in Nashmau. I went there and after several moons of investigating, I finally discovered a secret haven deep underneath of Nashmau where refugee’s of all parts communed.
You should see this underground city. It was amazing, albeit, a small underground city, but a safe haven. I stayed there for 6 more years and rumor spread that the banishment of Scholar’s had been reprieved.
Oh, while I was there. Holy crap, you get a lot of refugees (most were scholars) together and the magicks they can come up with is unbelievable!
When we went back, all of us were skeptical. Some refused to even leave the safe haven. So we took other roles, mostly acting as White Mages or Black Mages or Red Mages – you know, to keep with our magic. Though others decided they thought it was an opportunity to learn something new and they began studying ninjitsu or became warriors, some monks.
Oh, and some…Some were really amazing at being deceitful. I know of a handful that actually were able to make others think they were an Immortal. One got caught, and unfortunately, portraying yourself as one of the elite Immortals has a death sentence. To the best of my knowledge, the others haven’t been caught yet.
I couldn’t go to Jeuno. I was skeptical of the reprieve of the banishment and felt Jeuno was the last place I wanted to be a citizen of. And a Hume in Windurst, I think I might of gotten a couple looks. Though there are alot of hume’s that hail from San d’Oria so I felt that was the best place to head to. I decided to act as a White Mage for a couple of years – still skeptical of the reprieve… But as other Scholars revealed themselves, I decided to do the same…
Something to think about: Shortly afeter a number of us revealed ourselves, certain things began showing up across Vana’diel… I’ll give you a hint… think “Maw”.
And that pretty much brings us to present time. So that’s my story. I joined San d’Oria when I came back because I felt Bastok had betrayed my loyalty to them during the war. And NOW, San d’Oria has orders to imprison me! This is bullshit! Now I am thinking of heading out to the one nation that hasn’t betrayed me yet…
(Note: I am currently on CoP mission where San d’Oria tries to arrest you.)
