Well, after some time off from playing the game, I think I might have started playing again. I say think, because I’m still not sure if I’m going to continue to play that much or I just might start playing all the time like I used to. Either way, I have a lot to post about regarding various jobs (BST, DRG, SCH, WHM), and probably some more multimedia stuff. Who knows.

*ALSO* I plan to do a redesign of the site soon. I will be keeping all that I’ve posted and everything but just overhauling the entire site completely…. Just thought I’d mention that.

Well, I officially left my End-Game Linkshell.

Why would I do such a thing you ask?

STORY TIME!!!

Well, a few weeks ago I had some fun with some friends. One of them needed an item for his Brown Belt and we decided to go and just fight the KSNM instead of trying to camp the 21-24hr spawn NM. Oh man, was this fun.

Okay, this is what I’m all about. Going into something headstrong with little information. I love playing FFXI when it’s more along the lines of “Let’s figure this out” or “let’s try this and see if it works, if it doesn’t, we’ll look at what we did, and try something else.”

So we get together, Cabby (COR), Untouched (SCH), X (BLM), and myself (SCH) and go fight this NM. The KSNM was Contaminated Colosseum and the enemy was Evil Oscar.

With the four of us, we didn’t do to bad – we actually won our first try! It was awesome. I took a leader role for this KSNM, none of us had fought prior to this, and I did so just like what would be expected of me: “Let’s try this and see what happens.”

We did learn a few thigns. Mr. Evil Oscar has a move called “Extremely Bad Breath” which is unlike any other kind of bad breath. While what it does is simple, it is definately not nice.

Basically, when he uses this move, he goes, “Tag! You’re dead!”

And that’s it. You’re dead. End of discussion.

Nothing can save you. No utsusemi. No godly health. Not Invinsible nor Perfect Dodge. If he tags you, you’re dead. He’s like the grim reaper of Malboros.

While this is his most devastating move, he does give a warning and *usually* you can get out of range before he tags you. He also has his normal attacks which are a pain!

Now his normal attacks are more like…

“Tag! You can’t run! You can only walk VERY, VERY SLOWLY! Hahaha! Now I’m going to pound on you and use Extremely Bad Breath!”

Yes, that’s right. His normal attacks have “engravity”. Luckily, all our jobs were ranged and so part of our strategy in the first place was to not be tagged.

So during the first fight it went pretty smoothly, in the broadest definition I can conjure for that. Then Cabby left.

So, a Corsair leaves, so what?

Holy…shit… did that make a difference.

I don’t know exactly what Mr. Caboose was doing but whatever he was doing, he was good at it. Once he left it was just the three of us (SCH+SCH+BLM) and, while we won our fair share of matches, we also felt the wrath of the breath.

Okay, before I continue I would like to point out a couple more things. First, us three/four are all good friends. I personally never use my Kindred Seals and I don’t think they did really either. We were out there to help Untouched, simple as that. We used our own Kindred Seals and got Orbs to fight more fights. We didn’t care. We just decided to split the drops that were going to be sold and if there was an item anyone wanted – despite who’s orb it was – they could have it.

We ended up going 3 full rounds. That’s 3 trips back to Jeuno to get an new orb for each of us, so 10 battles (Caboose was only in the first). We lost about 4 or 5 times and won 5 or 6 times. The very last time when we were going to call it – drop or not – we got the item we seaked. Not only did we get that item, but the Morgenstern dropped as well which I was able to obtain.

I spent the next couple of days selling and buying gear and working on breaking that latent for that beautiful club. I was putting out some damn good numbers with it once I broke the latent too. That +Crit is extremely noticable!

So now I have my WHM, in full melee gear, ready to whack some mobs with my pretty mace. I decide I’m going to have some fun (like I usually try to do) in Dynamis and go WHM/WAR…

Okay, who goes WHM/WAR to dynamis? Seriously? Let alone, when they are low on healers?

I’ll give you a hint…

Obviously not Setherio!

Okay, this is what happened… I got geared up. I told the linkshell two hours in advanced as well as multiple times leading up to Dynamis that night that I was going to go WHM/WAR and whack the hell out of the mobs. People asked if I was seriously, I said of course! No one said I couldn’t or shouldn’t though.

So we get into Dynamis and… well… here’s how the conversation went…
(PS: Shadowkiller = LS Leader)

Setherio enters Dynamis – San d’Oria.
Seth, change your subjob.
I dunno, I wanna whack things! I’m gonna go ::whack::whack::BOP::whack::thowp!::
Seth, we need you to heal.
I can multitask. I can fight AND heal. Imagine, having an extra DD while maintaining a healer!
Seth, change your subjob now.

[Okay, at this point he was serious. However, I was serious the entire time. I was not going to change my subjob. I was going to either melee or leave. So...]

I’m not going to change my subjob. Not for you, not for anyone. I don’t care what anyone thinks about their specific ways to do things.
You all know damn well I like to try different things and I know for a fact I can deal damage and cure.
So, if you really want me to change my subjob…
I won’t. I will leave though. It’s up to you. Let me be and you’ll have an extra DD on the side while I keep people alive
Or you won’t have either and I WILL LEAVE.
Goodbye.

Setherio drops the linkshell pearl.
[Then I /shouted the following]

Well, guess I’m leaving. Dropped the shell by the way. Good luck everyone. {peace}

And that was that.

I left my old EGLS to join this one because most of the members were people I’ve known in game for years – and they all happened to be in this EGLS. I got tells afterwords from a couple of them about me leaving. One from a Red Mage whom ended up having to be the main healer of the entire alliance due to my departure. I told him that I left the choice up to Shadowkiller, he made his choice and said, “Goodbye” and I respectfully left.

I just want to say I’m still around.

I have been quite busy IRL and honestly have barely managed to get an hour in FFXI a week for about a month or so now.

And as everyone is full aware (or should be), RL > FFXI.

Anyways, just a small update. In the last month (wow, took me a month…) I have been able to get Puppetmaster to 37! So that’s one job I can check off. Currently, I am (slowly) working on Corsair. Have been able to get it from 27 to 30. 7 more levels and it’ll make my 17th job at 37+! Only PLD, DRK, and BRD to go. PLD is currently 20 while both Dark Knight and Bard I have yet to unlock.

So that’s it for now…

Hopefully I am able to get more FFXI time soon and my endgame LS isn’t too upset with my absense =3
